The Fraternal Order Of Police is the oldest and largest law enforcement organization in the world.
Founded in 1915, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, the FOP has grown to over 325,000 members with affiliate lodges in Canada and Ireland.
Over 1,000 of the 2,100 lodges operate under collective bargaining agreements.

FOP Urges Congress to Reverse Ruling on Crack DealersCARY, N.C. - Chuck Canterbury, National President of the Fraternal Order of Police, called on Congress to act swiftly to block the decision of the U.S. Sentencing Commission to apply retroactively the new, lower sentencing guidelines for individuals convicted of crack cocaine offenses.
“At least 19,500 crack dealers will have their sentences reduced,” Canterbury said. “And these are not ‘low level dealers’ or first time offenders--80% of them had previously been convicted of a crime, a majority of them have multiple prior convictions and 35% of them also possessed a firearm... : : MORE
Welcome to our NC FOP State Lodge site!
The FOP in North Carolina emerged on the scene in 1954, with the first lodge located in Asheville. Today Harold C. Enloe Lodge #1 has over 250 members and continues with the slogan, "Building on a proud tradition".
Currently there are fifty-one local lodges totaling over 5,200 law enforcement officers from the mountains to the coast. The North Carolina State Lodge was formed on May 23, 1972 with the stated goal that lies at the beginning of our constitution:

Local Officers Go Above and Beyond to Make a Special Holiday Delivery
CONCORD – Two Concord Police officers, with the help of a high-flying friend, make a very special delivery to a fellow law enforcement officer’s family hundreds of miles away. On Thursday morning, the officers delivered a beautiful homemade dollhouse and other gifts to Elizabeth City, North Carolina to try to brighten the holidays for a family that recently lost nearly everything in a house fire. The method of delivery was very Santa-like, short of falling down a chimney.

UPDATE ON THE STATUS OF THE IMPLEMENTATION OF HR218
In an October issue of The Blue Note, I gave you information regarding the passage of House Bill 1231, which implements HR218, the “Law Enforcement Officers’ Safety Act of 2004,” into law in North Carolina. This Federal law authorizes State and local law enforcement officer to carry firearms nationwide so long as the law enforcement officers regularly qualified with the firearm and met certain conditions. Federal law also authorizes retired and active officers to carry concealed firearms nationwide so long as they met the firearms qualification standards for active law enforcement officers and complied with other criteria. HR218 was a major initiative in Congress for the Grand Lodge, Fraternal Order of Police, but upon its passage the states were slow to begin implementing this new law. President Don Penix made implementation of HR218 a top priority for this legislative session and I, along with our Legislative Agent, Jeff Gray, worked to obtain passage of House Bill 1231, “Certain Law Officers/Waive Handgun Permit.”

Three indicted for FOP camp break-in
The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation arrested three suspects involved in last summer’s Fraternal Order of Police Youth Camp break-in after a Wilson County Grand Jury returned a myriad of indictments against a former police officer and two co-defendants.
