The Fraternal Order Of Police is the oldest and largest law enforcement organization in the world.
Founded in 1915, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, the FOP has grown to over 325,000 members with affiliate lodges in Canada and Ireland.
Over 1,000 of the 2,100 lodges operate under collective bargaining agreements.

Fraternal Order of Police Endorses PerdueCary, NC - Terry Mangum, President of the North Carolina Fraternal Order of Police, announced the organization’s endorsement of Lt. Governor Bev Perdue for the office of Governor.
President Mangum stated, “Prior to this endorsement we carefully considered Lt. Governor Perdue’s record and her responses to the questionnaire and the direct questioning from the membership. She made it very clear that she is with us on many of our priority issues and is willing to work with us on the other issues most important to our members.”

Welcome to our NC FOP State Lodge site!
The FOP in North Carolina emerged on the scene in 1954, with the first lodge located in Asheville. Today Harold C. Enloe Lodge #1 has over 250 members and continues with the slogan, "Building on a proud tradition".
Currently there are fifty-five local lodges totaling over 6,300 law enforcement officers from the mountains to the coast. The North Carolina State Lodge was formed on May 23, 1972 with the stated goal that lies at the beginning of our constitution:

Chuck Canterbury, National President of the Fraternal Order of Police, today announced the organization's endorsement of Senator John S. McCain III for the office of President.
"The FOP carefully considered the records and the responses of both candidates and, in our evaluation, Senator McCain will provide greater leadership for our country and for our nation's law enforcement officers," Canterbury said. Two new retirement bills have been introduced in the Short Session. By new, I mean bills in addition to the two bills that the FOP considers Aits bills,@ which are House Bill 1114 and Senate Bill 1444, that are currently pending.

UPDATE ON CONCEALED CARRY FOR LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICERS
This legislation places the qualification of retired law enforcement officers to carry concealed under the control of the Criminal Justice Education and Training Standards Commission, one of two Commissions in North Carolina that certify justice officers and deputy sheriffs.

Your disaster assistance response team is in need of volunteers.
With warm weather and the 2008 hurricane season approaching, it is time for the NC Fraternal Order of Police Foundation Disaster Assistance Response Team (DART) to begin preparing for the possibility of a response to a disaster. Thankfully, the 2006 and 2007 hurricane seasons were quiet for North Carolina and there was not a need to activate DART.

Burgaw gets new police chief
PENDER COUNTY -- Burgaw has a new top cop. Ed Gibson was sworn in Monday as the new police chief in Pender County.
After nine years as police chief, Dwayne Briley is retiring. Although Briley's last day isn't until Monday, Gibson has officially taken over effective this morning.
Gibson, a 30-year veteran of the Wilmington Police force, says Monday was the culmination of all of his objectives as a law enforcement officer.
He says his first goal as chief is to get to know residents and his new force.

North Carolina Citizens Corps Conference
On March 06, 2008 the North Carolina Fraternal Order of Police DART Team, represented by Walter Kenny and Greg Brown, participated in the 2008 Citizens Corps Conference at Sunset Beach, NC.
During the two-day conference the team learned a great deal on how various reponse programs come together during a disaster.
Greg comments about the Conference, "The team made some great contacts while at this conference which will help the DART Program grow and mature."
