Publications

The North Carolina State Lodge publishes a magazine and newsletter periodically during the year. Both publications are called North Carolina Police Officer. These publications are mailed to each Active and Associate Member.

Magazine

The magazine contains articles of interest to law enforcement officers and to our Associate Members. Any member may submit articles to the magazine. Several regular features are filled entirely by news submitted by the local lodges.

Across the State is news from local lodges about activities or projects that they have undertaken to benefit their members or their communities; 

In Memoriam recognizes those officers who have died.

Retirements recognizes those officers who have taken off that uniform for the last time.

We prefer articles written by our members. These features are not limited to news about FOP members. Law enforcement officers of your community should be recognized even if they are not members. The local lodge secretary, or a designated member, should be responsible for submitting these news items to the Editor.

Newsletter

The newsletter is used to convey information to our members that is of a timely nature, such as current legislation, upcoming events, and action taken at State meetings. It also contains reports from State and National Officers, and local lodges are encouraged to submit items of interest to other lodges. Newsletters are usually published between magazine mailings.

FOP Journal

The National FOP Journal is published by the Grand Lodge two times each year. It is mailed to each Active Member according to the membership roster maintained by the Grand Lodge. Keep in mind that members are added to that roster through the payment of per capita tax and submission of a Losses and Gains form.

Lodges are encouraged to submit news articles to the Journal.

Newswatch

The Grand Lodge also publishes a monthly newsletter (except in the months the Journal is published) that is distributed to all National officers, State Presidents, State Secretaries, Lodge Presidents and Lodge Secretaries. It is the responsibility of your lodge president or secretary to share the information from Newswatch with your membership. Reprinting of articles is allowed and encouraged.

Individual subscriptions are available at a cost of $9.00 per year.
