Thomas Navarre embarked on his law enforcement career in 2004 with the Durham Police Department. Over the years, he has contributed to numerous units, including Uniform Patrol, the Bicycle Unit, and the HEAT Team (Street Crimes Unit). In 2012, Thomas was promoted to Corporal, where he continued his impactful work on Uniform Patrol and with the HEAT Team. Three years later, in 2015, he advanced to Sergeant, serving on Uniform Patrol and within the Criminal Investigations Unit (Property Crimes Unit and Cold Case Unit). In 2023, he earned the rank of Lieutenant and now serves as Watch Commander on Uniform Patrol.

Thomas is dedicated to education and professional growth. He earned an Associate Degree in Criminal Justice Technology from Alamance Community College in 2015. Committed to furthering his knowledge, he pursued online courses at Western Carolina University, obtaining a Bachelor of Science Degree in Criminal Justice in 2018.

A proud member of the Durham FOP Lodge 2 since 2005, Thomas took on leadership responsibilities in 2012 when he joined the Executive Board as a Trustee. In 2016, he was appointed Financial Secretary, a role he held until he was elected Lodge President in 2018. During his presidency, which lasted until 2022, Thomas displayed a strong commitment to the organization’s values and objectives. He resumed his position as Financial Secretary in 2022 and continues to serve in this capacity.

Thomas also extends his expertise at the state level. Appointed to the North Carolina FOP Technology Committee in 2019, he was selected as the committee's Chairman in 2020. Now in his third term, Thomas has played an instrumental role in advancing the NC FOP's social media presence, spotlighting the outstanding contributions of members statewide.
