Greg Brown began his law enforcement career with the Rocky Mount Police Department in 1995. During his career, he served in a variety of assignments, including Patrol Officer, Narcotics Officer, Bike Patrol Officer, School Resource Officer, Field Training Officer, and Senior Patrol Officer. His law enforcement career was cut short after he suffered a critical, career-ending injury in the line of duty in 2005. He retired from the Rocky Mount Police Department in 2006.

Greg joined the Fraternal Order of Police in 2005 as a member of Rocky Mount Lodge #46. Since joining the FOP, he has remained an active and dedicated member of the organization, serving Lodge #46 in numerous leadership positions, including Interim Secretary, Lodge President, and State Trustee, a position he continues to hold.

In 2014, Greg expanded his service to the North Carolina State Lodge when he was elected Sergeant at Arms and became a member of the State Lodge Board of Directors. He has continued to serve the membership of the North Carolina Fraternal Order of Police in that role, bringing to the Board his experience, commitment, and perspective as both a law enforcement officer and local lodge leader. Greg was Elected in 2026 to serve as the Vice President of the State Lodge.

Over his 20 plus years of service to the NC Fraternal Order of Police, Greg has served in various roles on State Committees to include President, Vice President, 2nd Vice President and Secretary of the Foundation, Chair and Northeastern Regional Coordinator for D.A.R.T., and Chair of Membership and Recruitment.

Outside of the Fraternal Order of Police, Greg has dedicated more than 15 years to mentoring and developing young people through education and athletics at Rocky Mount Academy. He serves as a substitute teacher and has coached varsity athletics as an Assistant Football Coach, Assistant Softball Coach, and Head Softball Coach. During his coaching career, Greg has helped lead teams to eight State Championship appearances, winning five State Championships and ten Conference Championships.

His commitment to student-athletes extends beyond Rocky Mount Academy. Greg serves as Head Coach for Team North Carolina at the Gatlinburg, Tennessee Softball CAP Classic from 2024–2027 and as an Assistant Coach for the North Carolina BodyArmor High School Softball State Games from 2022–2027.

Greg is also a published author. His first book, The Thin Gold Line, was published in 2026, adding another accomplishment to a life defined by law enforcement service, FOP leadership, coaching, mentorship, and a commitment to serving others.
