Randy Hagler began his law enforcement career in 1978 with the Hickory Police Department. In 1979, he returned to Charlotte and joined the Charlotte Police Department, where he served in a variety of assignments throughout his career, including patrol, investigations, patrol sergeant, and motor sergeant. He concluded his career with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department supervising the School Resource Officers Unit.

Following his retirement from CMPD in 2007, Randy continued his commitment to public safety by joining the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools Police Department. He served the school system for another 11 years, ultimately serving as Chief of Police before retiring in 2018. His combined career represents four decades of dedicated law enforcement service.

Randy's commitment to the Fraternal Order of Police began alongside his law enforcement career. He joined the FOP in 1978 while serving with the Hickory Police Department and continued his membership after returning to Charlotte. Throughout the years, he has held numerous leadership positions with Charlotte-Mecklenburg FOP Lodge #9, including serving six years as Lodge President.

In 1999, Randy began his service on the North Carolina FOP State Executive Board when he was elected National Trustee. He served nine years in that position before being elected State Vice President. After four years as Vice President, Randy was elected State President, beginning an extraordinary 12-year tenure leading the North Carolina Fraternal Order of Police.

As State President, Randy provided steady leadership to the organization, represented North Carolina's law enforcement officers at the state and national levels, and helped strengthen the FOP's advocacy, membership, and service to its local lodges.

After completing his service as State President, Randy continues to serve the North Carolina FOP as Immediate Past President. With more than 25 years of service on the State Executive Board and nearly five decades as an FOP member, Randy's dedication to the Fraternal Order of Police represents a lifetime commitment to law enforcement officers and the principles of fraternity, service, and leadership.
